Richmond Hill provides a Senior Tax Assistance Grant to homeowners 65 years of age or older. The amount of the grant will be determined upon approval of the annual budget.
To qualify for the Senior Tax Assistance Grant you must:
If you don’t have a copy of the Guaranteed Income Supplement Entitlement letter, contact Service Canada at 1-800-277-9914.
Applications received by March 31 will be applied to the 2025 Final Tax Bill, if approved. Applications received between April 1 and September 30 each year will be processed; however, you will have to pay the total of your Final Tax Bill as billed to avoid penalty and interest charges. The grant, if approved, will be applied as a credit to your property tax account.
The deadline for a Senior Tax Assistance Grant is September 30th of the year of the application. Any applications received after the deadline will not be processed.
